Introducing – Norqain Welcomes The Independence 22 Skeleton

In its relatively short 4 years of existence, Swiss independent watch manufacturer Norqain has been steadily building a name for itself. It has a comprehensive collection of sports- and adventure-oriented watches. Collections like the Freedom, Adventure and Independence all hint at a free spirit and a love for the outdoors. Part of the Independence range, Norqain now presents an evolution of last year’s first-ever skeletonized piece, the Independence 21 Skeleton. Aptly named the Independence 22 Skeleton, Norqain now returns to the concept of transparency.

The robust case of the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton is machined from 316L stainless steel and measures 42mm across and 11.8mm in height. The case is finished with brushed, polished and sandblasted surfaces. It features details such as protruding crown guards, recessed sections in the side of the lugs and a protrusion carrying the screwed-in plaque with the brand’s name on the left-hand side. Sapphire crystals cover both sides of the case.

Lacking a traditional dial, the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton comes with a transparent (most likely sapphire crystal, but this is unconfirmed) dial. On top, we find applied and faceted indices with Super-LumiNova. These indices are connected to a white-on-black chapter ring, framed by a sloped flange with a 5-minute scale. The central hour and minute hands are skeletonized in the lower half and have a Super-LumiNova insert in the upper half. The central seconds hand has a triangular tip with Super-LumiNova, outlined in red.

Inside the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton is the Calibre NN08S, based on the Sellita SW 200-1S. This automatic movement has a skeletonized construction with a modern design and comes with COSC-chronometer certification. Visible from both the front and the back, the ruthenium finish gives it a contemporary look and feel. It runs at a frequency of 28,800vph and offers 38 hours of autonomy.

The Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton comes on the same stainless steel bracelet we’ve seen on the non-skeletonized Independence collection. This three-link bracelet is brushed and polished and comes with a folding clasp. It retails for CHF 3,790 and Norqain states 300 pieces of the Independence 22 are available but doesn’t communicate on the Independence 22 Skeleton’s limitation if there is any. It does state however that more will be built depending on demand.
